An Arsonist’s Worst Nightmare is Man’s Best Friend

Arson is a difficult crime to solve, but four-legged crime fighters are making it a little easier for fire investigators. Such was the case for Firefighter David Seidl with the Beaver Falls Fire Department in Pennsylvania. David spent four weeks in April 2015 training through the State Farm Arson Dog Program with his new partner, K9 Patty. Within a few months, the team contributed to their community. In August 2015, abandoned homes and buildings in Beaver Falls and neighboring White Township were being burned to the ground — at least 11 over the course of a month. But K9 Patty did her job. She found evidence of accelerants at several of the fire scenes, indicating that the fires might be the work of a serial arsonist.
