Security personnel from the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority, Customs division of the GRA and the Ghana Military Police have graduated from the National Dog Academy and Military Police Training School after taking part in the Dog Handler’s and Special Investigations Basic Courses.

The training is to equip them with skills and knowledge on modern techniques on security.

The idea of introducing dogs into Ghana’s security set up was initiated in 1962 during the first Republic and commissioned in 1964 with an initial 20 Alsatian dogs brought by Russians for explosive detection.
