PORTERDALE – A broken tag light led to the arrest of a Covington man on a number of drug charges, including possession of methamphetamine (meth) with intent to distribute.

The incident occurred about 3:23 a.m. on Oct. 24, according to an incident report from the Porterdale Police Department. An officer was on patrol in the area of Ga. Highway 81 and Covington Bypass Road when he saw a white 2008 Cadillac CTS with an inoperable tag light. He initiated a traffic stop on Covington Bypass Road.

The officer reported that the driver, identified as Robert Lee Hussey, 42, appears to be “abnormally nervous,” allegedly shaking with rapid eye movements and shaky hands. The officer checked Hussey’s identification and that of his wife, who was a passenger in the vehicle. Both identities came back with no wants or warrants.
