KILGORE, TX (KLTV) – Kilgore police used drones and K9 officers to locate a wanted registered sex offender.
According to the Kilgore Police Department, Richard Marcus Miller was taken into custody Monday afternoon. Kilgore police were given information that he was wanted on several felony charges.
Kilgore police reported officers approached him at his place of work. Miller then reportedly fled from police, climbing over a fence and running down the railroad tracks behind the Wal-Mart.
Officers set up a perimeter and began searching for Miller.
A K9 officer was called to the scene to aid in the search along with a deployed drone.
Miller was later spotted by an officer, reportedly hiding underneath thick underbush. The officer guided another officer along with the K9 officer to Miller’s location. Kilgore police reported once Miler heard the K9 officer approach, he quickly complied with police. Miller was taken into custody without incident.
Kilgore police reported his “significant other” was stopped while she circled the area attempting to offer Miller a ride.
According to Kilgore police, Miller is a registered sex offender with at least 15 prior arrests. He was wanted on failure to ID as a fugitive charge from Kaufman County, a bond forfeiture DWI charge from Gregg County and parole warrant. He was also charged with evading arrest by Kilgore police.
