URBANA, Ill. — The University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine invited over 50 K9 handlers from around the state of Illinois for the 1st annual K9 Officer Down Training Monday in Urbana.

K9 handlers were taught how to deliver life-saving care for their partners.

The training included dog CPR training, gunshot hemorrhage control and orbital trauma care.

Handlers received this training in order to give their K9s on-the-spot treatment.
