Baghera jumped with joy when his master praised him for detecting a 20 kg bomb laid by Naxals in Rajnandgaon district of Chhattisgarh. The Dobermann, an Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) patrol explosive detection dog, saved the lives of security personnel and stopped a definite ambush that would have followed the blast.

Baghera is one of the 20 pure Dobermann dogs who completed their training in 2016.

On July 29, an area domination patrol squad was deputed on the Manpur-Baseli road in Rajnandgaon. During the three-hour backbreaking search on the 14 km strategic road, the dog struck gold. Undeterred even in the humidity, Baghera detected a spark plug that was used in the improvised explosive device (IED).
