Bail for Javier Barajas Jr., 42, of Mission, Texas, and Arturo Cobos Jr., 57, of Weslaco, Texas, were taken into custody on the felony charges Saturday, with bail set at $200,000 each.
Police records with the warrants for each men say that Fayetteville Police Department officers received a tip on Jan. 31 that Barajas was suspected of allegedly transporting a significant amount of a controlled substance from Mississippi to the Fayetteville area using a red tractor-trailer.
Detectives observed the vehicle at a local Fayetteville hotel Saturday and saw Barajas and Cobos appearing to disable parts under the hood, police records state.
“A trained police (canine) alerted the presence of a controlled substance within the vehicle,” authorities said.
Officers located more than 400 grams, or $12,000 worth of a white powder in the vehicle, which field tested positive for cocaine.
